People in charge of the first aid, Lotta Ahola and Riikka Vallittu, are satisfied with the weather in Jämsä. Sun is shining and it has been forecasted that it will be 20°C outside today. The weather is perfect for us. Wet terrain prevents the problems with dust and when the weather isn’t too hot, Venlas won’t suffer from dehydration. It’s forecasted that the strong wind will calm by noon.
First aid has the main first aid point in the northern side of the competition centre in Metsäoppilaitos (”Forest school”). Acute cases and small injuries are cured in first aid point next to the ice arena.
There are two terrain points in the Venla relay and three in Jukola. In the competition centre there is naturally one ambulance on duty and for terrain patients there’s all-terrain-vehicle available.
There is 55 volunteers working at the first aid. In addition there’s Finnish Defence Forces’ workers at the terrain points. – It’s been easy to find volunteers. There’s both local people and people who come from farther away. Part of the volunteers also orienteers.
