One phase of Juha Tainis – A- and B international teams’ head coach – couching career is related to Jämsä; his wife is from Jämsä and she was a member of Jämsän Retki-Veikot.
In summer 2003 they did their summer job in Jämsä, for JRV. Taini worked as a executive manager and his wife as a coach.
During the next five years both coaching and club activities developed in Jämsä. Tainis work started as a summer job but soon it turned into throughout the year job.
Beside his job in Retki-Veikot Taini coached also Jämsä areas vocational schools orienteering team. In Jämsä he also got his first contact with The Finnish Orienteering Federation and he started working with young hopes.
He coached for exaple young world champion 2003 Laura Hokka and relay orienteering world champion Merja Rantanen whom he’s still coaching.
– JRVs members are really passionate about orienteering and the communality feeling in the club is really great, Taini praises. Everyone knows each other and you can always get help if you need.
Jämsä-Jukola isn’t just a journey to Tainis past. – I won’t run this weekend but I participate thought; I belong to my current teams Koovees care team. For couple times I’m going to wear head coachs Federations clothes for representing occasions.
