Jämsän Seutu orienteering events on Thursdays offer a good change to familiarise with Jämsä Jukola’s terrain from May until October. In addition there are separate Jukola training areas in neighbouring terrains.

In the Spring of 2013 three training terrains are offered, two of which lies in the neighbouring terrains to Jämsä-Jukola and one in Himos.
Terrains
The terrain type of Jämsä-Jukola is taken into notice when choosing training terrains. The terrains are typical central Finnish commercial forests. Heräjärvi’s terrain is most similar to up-coming Jämsä Jukola’s. In this terrain controls are marked as control flags and reflectors. A relay training will take place in Partala’s terrain and tracks are drawn on the map. Controls are marked as control flags (no reflectors). A fantastic terrain of Himos is also possible for training , but its terrain type is not similar to Jämsä Jukola’s.
Maps
Partala’s relay training maps are good quality printmaps, size A4. Maps of other areas are copied, size A3. Control definitions are on the maps. The maps are not in map pockets so bring your own.
Miekkainpetäjä is high quality printed map, size A4, mapmaker is Timo Joensuu as in Jukola map. Trackmaster of Jukola has put 16 controls in this map. Controls are situated like in Jukola terrain. Description of controls are on the map. Control equipement is like in Jukola. There are also reflectors, so this suits well to nighttraining. Price 8 euros.
Map of Tupavuori is printed in the Jukola-office, size A4. There is a track of 6km in this model map.Controls are marked as control flags. No reflectors. Terrain is located south of Jukola terrain. Drive 2 km road Jämsä – Halli number 6031, 5 km from Jämsä, road Näätämäentie. Price 6 euros.
