It is important that the organizers of the Jukola Relay do not compete against each other, but instead want to co-operate and make the world’s biggest orienteering event even better and more interesting. The organizers of Kuopio-Jukola had a chance to learn from the previous organizers from Jämsä what went well and what needs rethinking and improving in the next Jukola Relay.
Competition managers Jaakko Lajunen (Jämsä-Jukola 2013), Jouko Kaihua (Kuopio-Jukola 2014), Janne Virtanen (Louna-Jukola 2015), Juha Heimala (Lappaanranta 2016) and Arja Makkonen (Joensuu 2017).
The organizing committee of Kuopio-Jukola invited the organizers of Jämsä-Jukola 2013 as well as the following organizers from Paimio (2015), Lappeenranta (2016) and Joensuu (2017) to share information about the arrangements of the Jukola Relay. About 200 people gathered in Kuopio on November 9th. The meeting was hosted by Kuopion Suunnistajat and the City of Kuopio.
The five competition managers of the past and future Jukola Relays had their own meeting on Friday 8th November. The main themes were security and co-operation with the authorities.
