Ah – ah – Jukolah! The catchy chorus has been heard and seen in Youtube since 2012, last summer also in Jukola-arena. The composer Jacob Redtzer lives in Stockholm, Sweden.
Jukola-song is not a coincidence; Redtzer started orienteering when he was six years old.
– I went along to my older sister’s training and I was hooked, Redtzer gives a laugh.
– I had some success in competitions as a child, but now I’m mostly running for good health and good friends.
Already on 2011 Redtzer made a Jukola song called ”JukolaFräs” that was specifically for his team Attunda OK.
– People were often asking to make new orienteering-tracks, so 2012 I decided to make a new track in English so everybody who runs Jukola could take part of the song.
Redtzer’s interest for making music started as a hobby a few years ago. Last year he took a diploma in audio engineering.
– Now I am working on stuff with my project/band Reboost with Peter Boström. We’ll see how far the music production can take me but music will always be very close to my heart.
Redtzer has taken part in Jukola relay in Attunda OK teams and hopes to run in Kuopio-Jukola, too.
– In that case it will be my 7th Jukola in a row! For Swedish runners the whole Jukola weekend is one of the year’s highlights. Rumours tell me that it’s a long bus trip into the deepest Finnish forests for us Swedes this year, Redtzer smiles.
