The top teams will be required to wear a GPS tracking system provided by the organizer throughout the competition. If a team refuses to do this, it will be disqualified. Detailed competition instructions will be available on the website of Kuopio-Jukola in May 2014.
The restricted (forbidden) course area can be found on the website of Kuopio-Jukola.
Competition map and the punching system
The scale of the map is 1:10 000, with a contour interval of 5 m, in six colours, and in accordance with the IOF standards. The map will be printed in March 2014. The maps will be in plastic map cases. The map was drawn by Jussi Silvennoinen 2010 – 2013. The electronic punching system (Emit) will be in use.
Entries
Entries need to be submitted through the website of Kuopio-Jukola www.jukola.com/2014. An access code to the electronic enrolment system will be sent via e-mail in November 2013 to the clubs and associations which took part in Jämsä-Jukola 2013. The clubs and associations that did not attend the 2013 Jukola or Venla Relays will receive their codes after registering in the electronic enrolment system.
Entries should be made by 4 p.m. on January 30th 2014 (reduced fee) or at the latest, by 4 p.m. on May 8th (regular fee). Late entries will be accepted until 4 p.m. on June 5th 2014 (with an additional fee). In order for an entry to be recognized, the entry fee has to be paid on time and the correct payment details must be used.
Participants do not need a Finnish Orienteering Federation license. The information about the runners in the teams must be correct. This is the responsibility of the person entering the teams. Both men and women may run in the Jukola Relay. Women who have attended the Venla Relay may also run in the Jukola Relay, but not on an orienteering club team. The teams of associations (meaning other than orienteering clubs) are allowed to have no more than two first class orienteerers aged between 17 and 39 (according to the Finnish final ranking in 2013).
The youngest competitors allowed to take part in the relay are those born in 1999.
Only orienteering clubs are allowed to compete for victory, prizes, and points for the challenge prize.
A team must have at least three Emit cards. The same Emit card cannot be used by two different teams in the same relay. However, the same Emit card may be used in both the Jukola and Venla Relays. Emit cards can be rented from the organizers at the cost of 10 € per card. A team needing rental cards must indicate the exact number of cards requested when making their entry. Personal Emit card numbers are not needed in advance. They will be registered into the electronic results system at the competition centre when the runners enter the starting or changeover area.
Entry fees
The entry fee is based on the payment day (i.e. the charging day from the payer’s account). In the case that the fee payment is not made by the deadline date, the entry fee will be higher according to the payment day.
