As the Kuopio-Jukola event is only a few days away, it’s a good time to update on how preparations are going with the Louna-Jukola arrangements. Soon it will be exactly one year to the summer night adventure of Louna-Jukola, and the countdown to the Venla and Jukola relays 2015 will begin.
As the name suggests (lounas = Finnish for “southwest”), Louna-Jukola will take place in Southwest Finland. The Competition Center will be located in Paimio, about 30 km from Turku, right next to the Turku-Helsinki highway, so travel to the course will be convenient. The location is also very favourable for those arriving by ferry from Sweden.
The organizing clubs of Louna-Jukola are Paimion Rasti and Turun Suunnistajat, both well-known for not only organizing big and high-quality events but also for their top level athletes and a history of success.
The actual event organizing of Louna-Jukola is at a good stage. Preparatory work has already been done for a couple of years, and the busy final year is soon about to begin. All committees have done long-term planning which will be implemented step by step.
The shape of the Competition Center is provisionally outlined, contracts have been made and cooperation partnerships established, calculations on food consumption have been made, and – what’s most important – competition courses are basically ready. An extensive group of volunteers has been gathered, and the ongoing work is looking positive.
Our objective is to organize a successful orienteering event in challenging and beautiful terrain and to offer real challenges for the best teams as well as a memorable adventure in the summer night to each and every participant.
Our slogan is “Everyone’s A Winner”. Be it a top team, an amateur, a company team, a family team, a seasoned orienteer, a newcomer, young or old – we want to give you an unforgettable experience. Now we’ll roll up our sleeves and keep on working towards next summer. We can’t wait to see you at Louna-Jukola 2015!
