General information
The rules of the Finnish Orienteering Federation (FOF) and instructions given by the organizers will be applied to the competition. The rules of FOF are available on the FOF website www.suunnistusliitto.fi. It is not allowed to use spiked shoes, but shoes with studs are allowed. The top teams will be required to wear a GPS tracking device provided by the organizer throughout the competition. A team refusing to do this will be disqualified. Detailed competition instructions will be available on the website of Lappee-Jukola in May 2016.
The embargoed (forbidden) area can be found on the website of Lappee-Jukola. Driving a car on forest roads at the embargoed practise area is forbidden.
Competition map and punching system
The competition map will be in the scale of 1:10 000, with a contour interval of 5 metres, in six colours, in accordance with the IOF standards, printed in March 2016. The maps, in size A3 or A2, depending on the route length, will be in plastic map cases. Mapped by Rauno Asikainen 5/2014-10/2015. Electronic punching system (Emit) is used.
Right to participation
Participants do not need a Finnish Orienteering Federation license. All personal data concerning the runners named to teams must be correct. This is the responsibility of the concerned club and the person entering the teams. Both men and women have a right to participate in the Jukola Relay.
The teams of associations (meaning teams of other than orienteering clubs) are allowed to have no more than two first class orienteers aged between 17 and 39 years. The restriction concerns women only participating in Venla relay. Only teams of orienteering clubs can compete for victory, podium, and points for the challenge trophy.
Especially foreign orienteers are reminded of the fact that you are allowed to orienteer in the summer only in one club during the competition season (1.1. – 31.12). The youngest competitors allowed to participate in either relay are those born in 2001 or earlier.
Entries, accommodation reservations and payment
Entries need to be submitted through the website of Lappee-Jukola, www.jukola.com/2016/en. An access code to the electronic enrolment system is sent via e-mail in November–December 2015 to the clubs and associations that participated in Louna-Jukola 2015. The clubs, associations, and private persons without an access code from previous years will receive their code after registering in the electronic enrolment system.
A team must have at least three Emit cards. The same Emit card cannot be used by two different teams in the same relay. However, the same Emit card may be used in both the Jukola and Venla Relays. Emit cards can be rented from the organizers at the cost of 20 € per card. A team needing rental cards must indicate the exact number of cards requested when making their entry. Personal Emit card numbers are not needed in advance, but they will be registered into the electronic results system at the competition centre when the runner enters the start or changeover area.
