Sotkamo and Vuokatti are located in Kainuu, with good transport connections. You can get there easily by car or public transport.
Arriving by train
The nearest train station is in Kajaani, about 33 kilometers from Vuokatti. There are several train services to Kajaani every day, and you can easily make the rest of the journey by using the bus connections between Kajaani and Vuokatti. The easiest way to find bus schedules is on the Matkahuolto website. When you look at the schedules, the stop at Kajaani railway station is called Kajaani Travel Center.

Arriving by bus
You can easily travel to Sotkamo and Vuokatti by bus. For longer journeys, the final stop is often the Kajaani Travel Center, from where you can change to a local bus and arrive at Sotkamo. The Vuokatti and Sotkamo areas have their own local bus, SotKatti, which you can use during your trip. You can pay with a Waltti card, bank card, mobile ticket (Waltti Mobiili) or cash on SotKatti. Children under 7 travel free.

Arriving by plane
The nearest airport is located in Kajaani, approximately 42 kilometers from Vuokatti. Finnair operates the Helsinki–Kajaani route at least until March 2026. The next closest airports are in Oulu (approx. 194 km), Kuopio (approx. 190 km) and Joensuu (213 km). From the airport you can take a taxi directly to Vuokatti or take a taxi to Kajaani Travel Centre, from where you can take a bus to Vuokatti. You can also rent a car at Kajaani Airport or Kajaani Travel Centre.
