Invitation to the 27th Youth Jukola in Vehmaa Saturday, August 18, 2012

YOUTH JUKOLA

Youth Jukola is an international orienteering relay of 7 legs for young orienteers. The team consists of both girls and boys.

All courses include approximately 380 m taped route. Forking on all legs except the 5th. The competition starts at 11.00 with a mass start and the winning team is expected to finish at 14.00.

COMPETITION RULES:

The competition rules of Finnish Orienteering Federation (SSL) and instructions given by the organizers must be followed. Spike shoes are prohibited, but dobb shoes are allowed.

GPS TRACKING:

The organizers have reserved the GPS transmitter for a number of teams for follow-up during the competition on legs 2, 5 and 7. If a team refuses to carry transmitters, the team will be disqualified from the competition. Own GPS transmitters are allowed. Specific instructions on the GPS are found on the organizers’ website closer to the competition.

ELIGIBILITY:

The contest is primarily aimed at sports clubs. Clubs that can not put together their own relay team can form combination teams. Students from schools or youth organizations from the same municipality can also form teams. Runners from the orientation association participating in a school or youth organization teams must ask permission from their own association. The team composition is made according the above table except for the combination team where even girls may run the 7th leg. The organizer forms combined teams from orienteer pool. Combination teams are not eligible for prices.

REGISTRATION:

Registration must be done no later than 8.8.2012. Use the registration system on the Jukola website: https://www.jukola.com The registration system opens on 18 June 2012.

LATE REGISTRATION:

Late entries will be accepted until 13.8.2012 for an increased fee. Registration system on Jukola website: https://www.jukola.com is also used for late registrations.

PARTICIPATION FEE:

84 € / team. Late registration 126 € / team. The participation fee is paid simultaneously to the registration to Mynämäen Suunnistajat -52 rf account:

TEAM COMPOSITION:

Final team assemblies shall be notified by Friday 17.8.2012 no later than 18.00 in registration system on Jukola website https://www.jukola.com or the form available from the competition office. Friday, 17.08.2012 at 15:30-22 the competition office is situated at accomodation.

COMPETITION OFFICE:

Friday 17.08.2012 competition office is situated at accommodation and on race day from 8.00 am until the race is finished, in the competition centre.

PUNCHING SYSTEM:

Each team must have at least three Emit cards. The same Emit card may not be used in two different teams. Emit cards can be rented by the race organizer for 3 € / card. Payment is done together with payment of registration fees. The Emits cards are reserved during the registration. The Emit card numbers are not needed in advance. They will be registered in the result system when the runners enter the start or changeover area.

SERVICE TENTS:

Clubs and associations have a possibility to book a tent area of 5x6m for its service tent. The spots must be reserved in advance (10 EUR each). Bookings must be made at the entry registration and the payment simultaneously with the entry fee. Further details are on the web site. Tents can be set up in TC from 17.00 hrs on Friday 17.08.2012.

MAP:

EMBARGOED AREA:

Competition area will be closed until Oravatonni competition on 23.9.2012. Jogging and skiing on constructed tracks and roads is allowed without a map. The forbidden area is shown on the website of the event.

ROAD SIGNS:

Competition centre is located at Vehmaa sports centre. Competition centre’s address is: Seuralantie, Vehmaa. Road signs from road 194. The signs will be on site from 15.00 on Friday 17.08.2012.

PARKING:

Parking on nearby fields, school yards and such, if necessary, also at roadsides. Max. walking distance to the event centre is 1.5 km. There will be a place for loading and unloading the buses near the competition centre. Buses will be parked a bit farther away.

DRESSING AND SHOWERS:

In competition centre.

ACCOMMODATION:

Accommodation on a hard surface provided in Vehmaa schools. Note that the distance between the school and competition centre will be over 3 kilometres. Accommodation is provided for the night between Friday and Saturday. The price is 15 € / person including breakfast. Light evening meals are offered for 5 € / person. Reservations in connection with registration and payment in connection with payment of registration fee.

TRAINING PACKAGE:

It will be offered several trainings in terrains similar to the competition terrain. As of Friday, 17.08.2012 at 16.00 is opened also the official training map, and it can be used until the competition starting at 11:00 am on 18.08.2012. More information on the contest website.
