37th Youth Jukola in Kotka on Saturday, 20th of August 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Youth Jukola is an international orienteering relay with 7 legs for junior orienteers. The team is consisting of
\nboth girls and boys in different ages.<\/p>\n

All legs include approximately 450 m of marked route. Forking is used in all legs, except on the third leg.<\/p>\n

Start<\/strong>
\nThe relay starts with a mass start at 11:00 a.m. The winner is expected to finish approximately at 2:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Competition rules<\/strong>
\nThe competition rules of the Finnish Orienteering Federation (FOF) and instructions given by the organizers
\nmust be followed. The use of spiked shoes is prohibited, but shoes with studs are allowed.<\/p>\n

GPS tracking<\/strong>
\nThe organizer has reserved GPS tracking devices for the top teams of the relay for tracking during the
\ncompetition on legs 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7. If a team refuses to carry GPS tracking devices, the team will be
\ndisqualified from the competition. Own GPS tracking devices without screen are allowed during the
\ncompetition. Specific instructions for using the GPS devices can be found later on the organizer\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

Eligibility to participate<\/strong><\/p>\n

The contest is primarily aimed at club teams. Clubs that cannot put together their own relay team or clubs
\nthat have more orienteers than team(s) includes may form combination teams. Students from schools or
\nyouth organizations can also form teams. Runners from an orienteering club participating in a school or
\nyouth organization teams must ask permission from their own club. The team composition needs to be
\nmade according to the table presented above (leg and age). Furthermore, the organizer forms combined
\nteams of runners who have signed up for the orienteer pool. Participants are not required to obtain a FOF
\nlicense. They compete with own responsibility.<\/p>\n

Prizes<\/strong>
\nTop 15 of club teams will be rewarded with medals of Youth Jukola. Seven best club teams will also get
\nadditional prize. The winning team will be awarded the challenge trophy for a year. Also, the best
\ncombination team will be rewarded.<\/p>\n

Registration<\/strong>
\nThe registration for the relay opens on 20th of June 2022 and ends on Sunday, 7th of August 2022 at 11:59
\np.m. Entries are processed through an online registration service, which can be found on the organizer\u2019s
\nwebsite.<\/p>\n

Late registration<\/strong>
\nLate entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on 14th of August 2022 with an additional fee and through an
\nonline registration service.<\/p>\n

Entry fee<\/strong>
\n118 \u20ac \/ team. Late registration 175 \u20ac \/ team.
\nThe entry fee for the registration and late registration is paid online using the official registration service.<\/p>\n

Running order<\/strong>
\nThe running orders of teams are entered into the system either during the entry or later, by 2:00 p.m. on
\nFriday, 19th of August. Running orders must be entered using the registration system or in competition
\noffice.<\/p>\n

Competition office \/ INFO<\/strong>
\nCompetition office is located at the competition centre. On Friday, 19th of August 2022 the office is open
\nfrom 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday, 20th of August the office is open from 8:00 a.m.<\/p>\n

Punching system<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each team must have at least three Emit cards. The same Emit card may not be used by two different
\nteams. Emit cards can be rented from the organizers for 5\u20ac \/ card. The amount of rental cards required
\nmust be indicated in the registration form when making the entry. The number of Emit cards do not need
\nto be reported in advance, as they will be registered into the system when the runners enter the start or
\nchangeover area.<\/p>\n

Club tents<\/strong><\/p>\n

Club tents can be set up in the competition centre on Friday, August 18th 2022 from 5 p.m. onwards. Tents
\ncan only be set up on reserved places. The booking of a tent place must be done during the registration
\nprocess online. The size of the tent place is 6m x 6m and the fee is 12 \u20ac \/ tent. The organizer will share club
\ntents places.<\/p>\n

Competition map<\/strong><\/p>\n

Orienteering map completed on 7\/2022, scale of 1:7500, contour interval of 5 m. The size of the map is A4,
\nand it is in a plastic cover. Mapped by Kimmo Nyk\u00e4nen.
\nOld maps and terrain description are available on the competition website.<\/p>\n

Forbidden training area<\/strong><\/p>\n

The competition area is declared forbidden for competition and training until the 2022 Youth Jukola Relay.
\nThe forbidden area is presented on the competition website, as well as in the map register on the Finnish
\nOrienteering Federation\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

Competition terrain<\/strong><\/p>\n

The terrain is quite small, uniform hilly area surrounded by settlements. It is mainly consisted of bare cliff,
\npine forest and some small rocky areas. The visibility and run ability are very good. In addition to the sports
\ntrack, there are plenty of paths. Some paths are so small that those are not described on the map. There
\nare also quite large height differences, about 45 meters between competition centre ja the highest point of
\nthe terrain.<\/p>\n

Directions to the competition center<\/strong><\/p>\n

The competition center is located at Tampsa skicenter. Detailed instructions for arrival will be published on
\nthe competition website.
\nRoad signs directing to the competition center will be in place by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, 18th August 2022. The driving instructions issued by the organizers must be followed.<\/p>\n

Parking<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parking is shared to two separate areas. Closest are to competition center consist about 200 places for cars
\nand the distance is 300 \u2013 600 m. Parking in that area is charged and the fee must be paid to Info in
\ncompetition centre. Another parking area is free for charge and approximately 1500 m walk from the
\ncompetition centre.
\nThe place for unloading and pick up of cars and club buses is located nearby the competition centre. Buses
\nand campers have their own parking area approximately 1500 m walk from the competition centre, and it is
\nfree for charge.<\/p>\n

Washing and changing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Washing and changing facilities are located in the Kyminkartano school, approximately 600 m guided route
\nfrom the competition centre. It is strictly forbidden to swim or to wash yourself in the pond of competition
\ncentre.<\/p>\n

Accommodation<\/strong><\/p>\n

The organizer provides accommodation on the floor of school for the nights between Friday 19th and
\nSunday 21st of August 2022 (sleeping bag, matress etc. are not included). The accommodation and morning
\n\/ evening meals must be reserved during the registration process.
\nAccommodation is located at Korkeakoski school, approximately 2 km away from the competition centre of
\nYouth Jukola and 1 km away from the competition centre of Sundays event. There is the railway stand
\nnearby the school.
\nMore information about accommodation alternatives will be published on the event website.<\/p>\n

Training<\/strong><\/p>\n

Youth Jukola trainings in similar terrains are available from the beginning of June. Further information will
\nbe published soon on the event website.
\nThere is also a small training terrain nearby the competition centre (walking distance appr. 700 m). It is
\navailable from the beginning of July and also on the competition weekend. The map of this training is also
\navailable in the Info on its opening hours.<\/p>\n

Food and beverage<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is a restaurant, caf\u00e9 and grill at the competition centre. Lunch is available at the restaurant on
\nSaturday 20th from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (including vegetarian food, all meals are lactose free, milk-free
\nand gluten-free is also available). Lunch tickets are recommended to be purchased during the registration
\nprocess by 17th of August. The purchased tickets are delivered within the club material.<\/p>\n
