IL Tyrving Takes the Lead at Second Changeover

On the second leg, Stora Tuna (SE) started off briskly, followed closely by IL Tyrving (NO) and Jämsän Retki-Veikot (FI). One of the first leg’s leading teams, OK Denseln (SE), dropped off early in the leg, while the rest of the top teams from the opening leg were chasing from behind. Just past the halfway point, Stora Tuna made a mistake and lost the lead, allowing IL Tyrving to move into first place. NTNUI (NO) also climbed into third at that stage.

Among the Finnish teams, Jämsän Retki-Veikot improved their position, running nearly side by side with OK Ravinen (SE) and OK Kåre (SE). Södertälje Nykvarn Orientering (SE), Tampereen Pyrintö (FI), and Farum-Tisvilde OK (DE) also broke into the top ten.

Toward the end of the leg, IL Tyrving extended their lead and reached the changeover with a time of 2:39:03. The gap between NTNUI and Stora Tuna, who came in second and third, was nearly three minutes. OK Ravinen arrived fourth. Tampereen Pyrintö and Jämsän Retki-Veikot followed in fifth and sixth, about seven minutes behind the leader, despite both teams’ runners admitting to making mistakes in post-leg-interviews.

Ikaalisten Nouseva-Voima (FI) climbed to tenth place, though the gap to the lead was nearly ten minutes. Helsingin Suunnistajat (FI) were 19th at the changeover, +10:47 behind.
