How to get to Mikkeli-Jukola
Mikkeli-Jukola 2025 is approaching. You should plan your arrival well in advance. The competition centre is located in Tikkala, Sora and Concrete V. Suutarinen Oy and there are no parking facilities in the vicinity. However, smooth transport routes and shuttle buses from the various parking areas have been arranged for all arrivals.
You can arrive in Mikkeli by car, train or bus. Train timetables and tickets can be found on the VR website, and Matkahuolto and OnniBus services also run to Mikkeli Matkakeskus.
From the Matkakeskus it is only a short 300-metre walk to the market. There are buses from the square to the competition centre. The operators of the Mikkeli Market Association are planning activities at the market place, so it will be pleasant to spend a little more time there.
During the race weekend, cars will be parked either at Mikkeli Airport or at the Otava parking area. The airport parking will be open throughout the weekend, but traffic will only be directed to the Otava car park on Saturday and Sunday. Arriving vehicles will be directed to the parking area according to the signposts provided by the organisers. The main parking area for caravans is on Kalevankangas.
Those who are the first to buy a parking space for motorhomes and caravans in the Jukola registration system will be directed to the HK Foods factory car park. Those who have purchased a caravan or trailer parking space will be sent a parking label in advance with instructions on how to reach the car park.
Free shuttle buses will be provided from the car parks to the competition centre. From the Otava car park to the Kariniemi bus stop it takes ten minutes, and from the airport, Kalevankangas and the market square to the HK bus stop it takes about twenty minutes. Buses run non-stop, but there are separately scheduled services from 02-07 on Sat-Sun nights. More detailed information will be published later.
Buses arrive at either the HK or Kariniemi bus stop, from where the competition centre and the tented accommodation areas are about 1.5-2 kilometres away on foot. Everyone should remember the name of their stop for the return journey. Arriving by bicycle is also recommended and an easy way to get to the event. Free bicycle parking is available near the competition centre.
There is no separate service provided by the organisers for transporting equipment, so competitors should be prepared to carry all necessary equipment themselves. Advance notice will be given at a later date if heavy items need to be brought in.
To ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible, it is important to allow sufficient time for transfers and to arrive at the competition centre in good time.
