The Jukola weekend is in full swing and the competition center is starting to fill up with people.
The official opening ceremony was held on the festival stage at 12:30.
The actual competition began at 1:30 p.m. when the starting shot for the Venla relay was fired. The winner of the Venla relay is expected to cross the finish line at around 4:30 p.m.
The Jukola relay will start at 11 p.m., and the winning team will be able to celebrate the Jukola relay at around 6.30 a.m.
The sunny weather may be exhausting, for which reason competitors and spectators are advised to drink plenty of fluids. There are drinking water points at the competition centre where you can fill your own bottles.
