YOUTH JUKOLA
Youth Jukola is an international orienteering relay of 7 legs for young orienteers. The team consists of both girls and boys.

All courses include approximately 600 m taped route. Forking on all legs except on the 5th leg. The competition starts at 11.30 a.m with a mass start and the winning team is expected to finish at 2.30 p.m.
Competition rules:
The competition rules of Finnish Orienteering Federation (FOF), organization instruction of Youth Jukola and instructions given by the organizers must be followed. Spike shoes are prohibited but dobb shoes are allowed.
GPS tracking:
The organizer has reserved GPS tracking devices for the top teams of the relay for follow-up during the competition on legs 2, 5 and 7. If a team refuses to carry GPS tracking devices, the team will be disqualified from the competition. Own GPS tracking devices are allowed. Specific instructions on the GPS can be found on the organizer’s website closer to the competition.
Eligibility:
The contest is primarily aimed at sports clubs. Clubs that can not put together their own relay team (more or less runners per team as required) can form combination teams. Students from schools or youth organizations from the same municipality can also form teams. Runners from the orientation association participating in a school or youth organization teams must ask permission from their own association. The team composition is made according to the above presented table (Leg, Age and level of difficulty classifications) except for the combination team where even girls may run the 7th leg. The organizer forms combined teams from orienteer pool. Combination teams are not eligible for prices.
Registration:
Registration system opens on June 16th, 2014 and registration ends on August 6th, 2014 at midnight (12 p.m.)
Late registration:
Late entries will be accepted until 12 p.m. on August 11th, 2014 with an additional fee. Note that late entries need to be submitted through the electronic enrolment system.
Participation fee:
90 €/team. Late registration 135 €/team. The participation fee must be paid simultaneously with the registration to Youth Jukola 2014 account using reference number generated by the electronic enrolment system: FI62 5106 0150 0201 31, OKOYFIHH
Team composition:
Final team assemblies shall be notified by Friday August 15th, 2014 no later than 6 p.m in registration system on Jukola website or using the form available from the competition office.
Competition office/INFO:
Competition office will be open on Friday, August 15th, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, August 16th ,2014 from 8 a.m to 6 p.m. Competition office is situated in the competition centre.
Punching System:
Each team must have at least three Emit cards. The same Emit card may not be used in two different teams. Emit cards can be rented by the race organizer for 4 € / card. The required numbers of Emits cards are reserved during the registration and payment is done together with payment of registration fees. The Emit card numbers are not needed in advance. They will be registered in the result system when the runners enter the start or changeover area.
Service tents:
Club tents can be set up in competition centre on Friday, August 15th, 2014 from 5 p.m. onward. Tents can be set up only to reserved places. Booking of the tent area must be made during the registration and the payment simultaneously with the entry fee. Size of the tent area is 5 x 6 m and it cost 10 €.
Map:
Orienteering map 7/2014 (printout), scale 1:10 000, contour interval 5 m. Size of the map is A4. Map is plastic covered. Old map and terrain description available on competition website.
Forbidden area:
The competition area is declared as a forbidden competition and training area until the 2014 Youth Jukola Relay. Forbidden area is presented on competition website as well as on Map register at Finnish Orienteering Federation website.
Road signs:
Competition centre is located at Kankaanpää Sport Centre. Road signs to competition centre start from the crossroad of Finnish national roads 23 and 44. The signs will be on site from 4 p.m. on Friday, August 15th, 2014.
Parking:
Parking locates nearby the factory area of Reima (Jämintie 14) and on the parking areas of Kankaanpää Sport Centre (Jämintie 10). Competitors with reserved school accommodation can park their cars to accommodation school yards. Max. walking distance to the event centre is 0.5 km. There will be a place for loading and unloading the buses near the competition centre
Dressing and showers:
Dressing in competition centre. Showers (free of charge) can be found from the Kankaanpää Sport Centre. You can use also Kankaanpää swimming hall. Entry fee 2,5 for children and 5 e for adults. Same entry as to the showers. The swimming hall is open from 11 am to 5 pm.
Accommodation:
Accommodation at school is provided for the night between Friday and Saturday.
Price for the accommodation on a hard surface is 15 € / person / night including breakfast. Evening meals are offered for 5 €. Please, note that the hard surface accommodation does NOT include bed, pillow, blanket etc.!
School accommodation and evening meal (remember to inform if special diet is required) must be reserved during the registration and payment is done together with payment of registration fees. Accommodation is provided at Pohjanlinna and Kangasmetsä schools, address: Kangasmoisionkatu 1, Kankaanpää. Training:
There will be offered several training packages created by Chief Course Planner in terrains similar to the competition terrain. Model training will be offered in two different terrains since Friday, August 15th 2014, 5p.m. onwards, up to 1 p.m on Saturday, August 16th 2014. An excellent training possibility is given when national competition called Kankaanpää-rastit will be held on August 3rd, 2014 at Kankaanpää.
