The latest news and uppdates about Joensuu-Jukola.

Next year the 70th Jukola relay will be held in Lahti. The competition director Jorma Aherto thanks the organizers of this year’s Jukola for a job well done and wishes that the same nice feel will also be repeated in next years Jukola.

The national author of Finland, Aleksis Kivi, wrote what is regarded as the first significant novel in Finnish. It cannot be understated how important the development of own language was for building Finnish national identity. The language used by Kivi in his novel “Seven Brothers” is Finnish at its most beautiful.

At 11pm a long line of head lamps shone at the church of Eno, when 1.590 first leg orienteerers started Jukola relay, which is one of the Finland 100 celebatory events for the centenary of Finnish independence.

The Joensuu-Jukola field park is in excellent condition and the whole walking trail to the Competition Center is a good road.

Follow Joensuu-Jukola via international the English web TV broadcast. There are separate broadcasts from Finland 100 Venla relay and Jukola relay. The price for both relays is 16 €.

There will be a shuttle bus from Joensuu city centre to the competition centre from Friday to Sunday. The bus route is Joensuu Arena-Lehmonramppi-ABC Uuro-Eno.

All 10 x 10 metres tent sites have been sold out. Secretary General will contact those teams who have already paid sites.

Based on the second registration stage, there will be 16,373 competitors orienteering in Joensuu-Jukola. The registration will continue until the beginning of June and the final amount of participants will be known in 2.6.

The competition centre will have a hard ground and the distances are shorter than on previous years. There will be bus transportation from the city centre of Joensuu to the competition centre. Join the story on 17-18 June 2017!

The embargoed area Joensuu-Jukola was updated on February 21. The read 514 will be available all time during the Jukola weekend. The road 512 will be closed from the road 514 to Konnusvaara. The precise timetable will be given later.

Joensuu-Jukola, organized by Kalevan Rasti, combines challenging orienteering and the hard ground of the competition centre. Based on the first stage of registering, there will be over 18,000 participants orienteering in Finland’s biggest adult sport event.

Kalevan Rasti presents Joensuu-Jukola in the beautiful North Karelian nature. The competition centre is located at Eno school centre, 35 kilometres north-east of Joensuu.

Mrs. Jenni Haukio, the Spouse of the President of the Republic of Finland, has agreed to become the patroness of Joensuu-Jukola. Simultaneously as Mrs. Jenni Haukio was invited as the patroness, President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö was asked to receive the Message of Jukola, which is dedicated to Finland celebrating its centenary of independence.

The best male orienteer of all time Thierry Gueorgiou will coach the Swedih national team after WOC 2017. He will continue to run relays in Kalevan Rasti.

The official English name of Jukola relay 2020 in Rovaniemi is now Arctic Circle –Jukola.
