Joensuu-Jukola thanks all the athletes, volunteers and spectators from a wonderful event
Next year the 70th Jukola relay will be held in Lahti. The competition director Jorma Aherto thanks the organizers of this year’s Jukola for a job well done and wishes that the same nice feel will also be repeated in next years Jukola.
Jukola Message 2017
The national author of Finland, Aleksis Kivi, wrote what is regarded as the first significant novel in Finnish. It cannot be understated how important the development of own language was for building Finnish national identity. The language used by Kivi in his novel “Seven Brothers” is Finnish at its most beautiful.
Joensuu-Jukola competition maps to the print – embargoed area sharpens
The embargoed area Joensuu-Jukola was updated on February 21. The read 514 will be available all time during the Jukola weekend. The road 512 will be closed from the road 514 to Konnusvaara. The precise timetable will be given later.
Joensuu-Jukola aims for the participant record
Joensuu-Jukola, organized by Kalevan Rasti, combines challenging orienteering and the hard ground of the competition centre. Based on the first stage of registering, there will be over 18,000 participants orienteering in Finland’s biggest adult sport event.
The President of the Republic of Finland and his spouse Jenni Haukio have significant roles in Joensuu-Jukola
Mrs. Jenni Haukio, the Spouse of the President of the Republic of Finland, has agreed to become the patroness of Joensuu-Jukola. Simultaneously as Mrs. Jenni Haukio was invited as the patroness, President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö was asked to receive the Message of Jukola, which is dedicated to Finland celebrating its centenary of independence.
