Embargoed Area

All movement, orienteering, and moving in the area with a map are prohibited.

New road to Itärinteet is marked in red on the map. It is part of the embargoed area.

Exceptions:

All movement, orienteering and movement with an orienteering map in the area is prohibited. Due to the nature of the terrain for outdoor recreation and skiing training, it is permitted until 10.4.2027 or as long as the ski routes are being maintained:

• Travel on the asphalt road to Vuokatinvaara.
• In winter, ski on groomed trails and ski on the ski slopes with a cross-country skier.
• In summer, walk along the above-mentioned ski slopes, the UKK hiking trail and ski slopes.
• Participate in the Vaara test runs organized by the Vuokatti-Ruka Sports Academy or sports associations, even on the part of the test run route that is otherwise prohibited.

NOTE! Permitted routes are marked in green on the training prohibited area map.

As of 11 April 2027, all movement in the embargoed area is prohibited!
