Vuokatti‑Jukola 2027 gains a leg partner in Terrafame, the multi‑metal company operating in Sotkamo. For Vuokatti Sport, the partnership is an important indication that Kainuu is committed to building an internationally significant sporting event together.
Vuokatti‑Jukola is organised by Sotkamon Jymy and Vuokatti Sport, and the competition centre will be built in the Vuokatti Sport area. Delivering the world’s largest orienteering relay is a major undertaking that requires, in addition to the organisers, a wide network of partners and volunteers.
Vuokatti Sport CEO Kosti Puurunen emphasises that partners should not only enable the event but also help build it together with the organisers.
According to Terrafame CEO Antti Koulumies, Vuokatti‑Jukola is above all a product of cooperation.
– As one of the largest employers in Kainuu, Terrafame wants to support the region’s vitality, attractiveness and sense of community. It is great for us to be part of a unique event that is being held here in Kainuu for the first time and highlights the strengths of our region to a wide audience, Koulumies says.
In Vuokatti, Jukola relay is being developed into a broader whole than just the competition weekend. Additional events and programme elements are currently being built around Vuokatti‑Jukola together with partners.
– We want partnerships to be visible in the event content whenever possible. At the same time, Jukola offers us an excellent opportunity to showcase Vuokatti, Kainuu and the expertise found here to event visitors, Puurunen notes.
Vuokatti‑Jukola 2027 will be held in Vuokatti, Sotkamo on 19–20 June 2027. Registration for the event opens on Saturday 10 October 2026 at 10:00.
