Noora Louhimo, the vocalist behind the symphonic metal version of Nälkämaan laulu, winner of Tähdet, tähdet, and a familiar face from Elämäni biisi, will perform at the world’s largest orienteering relay event in Vuokatti, Sotkamo, on Saturday, 19 June 2027.
The Municipality of Sotkamo is arranging Noora Louhimo’s visit and concert together with Vuokatti-Jukola.
The concert is held at the event’s competition centre and it is free of charge. Louhimo will perform Nälkämaan laulu at the Vuokatti-Jukola opening ceremony and will also treat the audience to a full concert experience.
Louhimo has previously collaborated with the Municipality of Sotkamo. Three years ago, the widely acclaimed symphonic metal version of Nälkämaan laulu was released, featuring her as one of the lead vocalists alongside Antti Hyyrynen of Stam1na and Casey Sabol.
“I love the way Nälkämaan laulu evokes strong emotions in me. I think the song captures Finland and the Finnish people in a very powerful and touching way – highlighting Finnish perseverance, melancholy and love for nature,” says Louhimo.
The anniversary show in Vuokatti-Jukola
Louhimo is a versatile singer whose musical roots stretch from the smoky blues bars of New Orleans and the country saloons of Nashville to soul music.
She charmed Finnish audiences with her versatility in the spring of 2026 on the entertainment show Tähdet, tähdet, and this autumn she joined the team of featured vocalists on Elämäni biisi. Before her solo career, Louhimo toured the world as the frontwoman of Battle Beast.
Louhimo plans to bring both her new album release tour and the anniversary show celebrating her 20-year career to Vuokatti-Jukola.
According to her, the performance will be filled with joy of life, empowering music and humorous stories from her journey. She is especially excited to become part of the Jukola Relay through her performance.
“I want to support Finnish sports and athletes, so I cannot imagine a better way than singing Kainuu’s regional anthem as encouragement for them. To me, Jukola is an important part of Finnish culture and history. I love forests and nature – hiking there is close to my heart, although it is always good to have someone along who knows how to navigate back home,” Louhimo says.
