Forest, terrain and movement always go hand in hand at Jukola. Tornator’s partnership with Kotka-Jukola is built on the same foundation: forestry expertise, responsibility and a strong sense of community. Tornator’s CFO Antti Siirtola knows the relationship personally, he is an experienced Jukola runner with more than ten participations.
The forest is Tornator’s operating environment, and part of its identity
Tornator is a Finnish forest owner and forestry company whose operations are based on sustainable forest management and the safeguarding of biodiversity.
“The forest is a natural operating environment for us,” Siirtola sums up.
This is why supporting Kotka-Jukola is natural for Tornator. The values of orienteering, respect for nature, responsible movement and the combination of thinking and doing, align directly with the company’s own culture. At Tornator, things are done analytically, proactively and with strong drive, just like at Jukola.
“Respect for nature, acting smartly, these traits connect Tornator and Jukola.”
Kotka-Jukola is run partly on Tornator land
Tornator has taken part in the Jukola relay since 2016 with its own team, and the connection to the event has deepened year by year. At Kotka-Jukola, competitors’ routes run partly on Tornator land, in terrain that the company manages responsibly and for the long term.
According to Siirtola, this has also increased enthusiasm within the company:
“This year we will enter with several Jukola teams and one Venla team. We expect Kotka-Jukola to make an excellent orienteering year from Tornator’s perspective as well,” Siirtola says with a smile.
Respect for nature unites
Tornator and Kotka-Jukola build their cooperation on the same values: responsibility, care for nature and a strong sense of community. When orienteers head for the competition terrain, they move in areas that Tornator manages according to the principles of sustainable forestry.
This partnership makes Kotka-Jukola an event where the quiet of the forest, the rhythm of the routes and shared responsibility meet. It is a joint promise by competitors and organizers alike that nature is always part of Jukola’s core.
