Kymenlaakson Sähkö provides light, heat and power to over 100,000 customers. In addition to the Kymenlaakso region, KSOY serves a wide customer base also in neighbouring provinces. With strong professional expertise, KSOY ensures that Kotka-Jukola has all the electricity it needs throughout the bright summer night.
How have your company’s history and role as an energy producer or supplier shaped who you are today?
Throughout its existence, KSOY has grown into a significant electricity supplier and producer. Electricity enables both everyday life and major industrial investments. KSOY aims to act according to this role – as an enabler, a reliable cooperation partner and a practical, hands‑on actor in daily life.
Why is Kotka‑Jukola a natural collaboration partner for you?
We want to help build and support regional vitality and community spirit through concrete actions. We play an active role in the area by supplying electricity to homes and businesses. It is only natural for us to contribute to the electrical infrastructure of an event that strongly emphasises local identity.
At Kotka‑Jukola, the power supply runs through the entire night. What is your role in making this possible?
The electrification of the event is largely background work completed before the competition begins. When participants experience the event as smooth and everything works flawlessly from an electrical standpoint, we know we have succeeded.
What do Kotka‑Jukola’s sense of community, closeness to nature and commitment to sustainability mean to you as an energy-sector company?
The well‑being of people and the environment is important to us. Through our activities—such as awarding scholarships to young athletes and sponsoring local organisations and events—we support well‑being and development in our region.
We have also registered our own company team for Kotka‑Jukola, and we are already looking forward to hearing the start signal and seeing the team head out onto the forest trails. The rest of the staff will surely follow the progress of the relay and cheer for our team throughout the event.
In a major sporting event, energy means both electricity and atmosphere – which is harder to produce?
In the Jukola Relay, atmosphere comes as a guaranteed bonus. We do our best to ensure that the electricity contributes to making that atmosphere come alive.
